I found this in a Moscow kiosk. Khmel is the Russian word for hops, so my hopes were up that the hops were up in this brew. Brown half liter bottle with a short stubby neck and a silver and blue label featuring little more than the name. Back label proclaims "100% Russian". Ingredients conform to the purity law. Best before 8/23/05, I opened it on 8/20/05.

Pours clear gold under a one finger off white head that lingers fairly well but can't muster much lace. The nose is sweet and flowery, like sniffing a carnation. The mouth is light, clean and fairly prickly. Sweet flowery hops emerge from the opening, with a dry espresso background. A touch of apricot and a bit of bread provide support for the hops. I'm sure the IBU count is low, but the hoppy spiciness dominates. Not bad, really.
