12oz bottle, julian date of 4/21/16 (111 16). Pours transparent light amber with a large off-white head which recedes quickly. Smells of peat, hops, and faint caramel; low intensity. The taste follows closely with peat, hops, bready malt, and some faint caramel. Mildly earthy and bitter. Higher carbonation and below average body. Overall, this really needs more caramel maltiness in the smell/taste. Grab Warped Speed instead if you're looking for a good Scotch Ale.

BOTTLE: 12 fl oz. Brown glass. Branded brass colour pry-off crown cap. Acquired in a trade with Duff27. I've aged it at least 6 months.
Reviewed live as a Scotch ale per the label. Expectations are above average. Served cold into a nonic half-pint and allowed to warm over the course of consumption.
No bubble show forms as it's poured.
HEAD: Fills about 80% of the glass. Off-white colour. Nice creaminess, thickness, and frothiness. Soft-looking. Stellar retention - about 9-10+ minutes. Leaves a nice coating of lacing as it recedes.
BODY: Vibrant tawny golden-amber. Clear. No yeast or sediment is visible.
Appears well-carbonated. It's a good looking Scotch ale.
AROMA: Has a marvelous fresh malt aroma, with notes of baked bread, toastiness, toffee, spelt, and bread crust in addition to the general malty sweetness at the core of the aroma.
To style, hop profile is minimal. No yeast character, off-notes, or overt booze.
Aromatic intensity is above average. Suggests a vibrant Scotch ale with a fresh malty backbone.
TASTE: Has a nice honeyed malt backbone, though it is quite simplistic. Depth of flavour is also below average. Notes of spelt grain, baked bread, bread crust, and malty sweetness. I find no hop notes, yeast, alcohol, or off-notes.
Balanced albeit simple. It's a rather plain beer.
Flavour duration and intensity are average.
TEXTURE: Medium-bodied, smooth, wet, creamy, and with adequate heft and weight on the palate. Overcarbonated, but it's manageable.
Fails to accentuate specific notes or to elevate the beer as a whole.
OVERALL: A drinkable but forgettable Scotch ale with some nice characteristics, but not a world-class brew in the style. Likable stuff for what it is, and definitely above average. I'm glad I got to try it. Huge thanks to Duff27 for the bottle!

Rather hoppy and not much to make me think scotch ale at all. Body is thin, and there are notes of scotch ale in there, but not enough.

12 ounce bottle poured into a snifter glass.
At first taste it reminded me of Warped Speed, but then the hops kicked in at the end. I let it warm up for a while and that really mellowed out the hops. It's very well balanced and enjoyable but don't expect Warp Speed.

It's like they took the amazing scotch ale taste of Warped Speed and ruined it with hoppiness.
