Rational Haze

Color is a hazy golden yellow, poured with about 2 fingers of a fairly compact sudsy white head. Not super turbid but definitely looks the part of a classic New England hazy.

Nose is very citrus and tropical fruit forward. Plenty of orange and tangerine upfront with lemon, melon, passionfruit, and pineapple present as well. Subtle hop aroma, leaning more to the herbaceous, piney side.

Taste follows suit with lots of tropical fruit and citrus. Hop bitterness is quite low but does come in on the second half, just enough to balance things out.

Mouthfeel is on the lower end of medium, which is expected for a middle of the road ABV IPA. It is surprisingly smooth and creamy, almost to the point where you'd wonder if there is some lactose in it. Carbonation is appropriate as well.

This one really impressed me. First beer I have tried from Lake Louie and it delivered everything that I look for in an easy drinking hazy, juicy New England IPA. Perfect for relaxing on a spring or summer afternoon. I grabbed a single 12 oz can from my local TotalWine that was about 3 weeks old. 6-pack of 12 oz cans there was $9.99 so it's reasonably priced. Will definitely look for this one again.

 

Poured from a can into a pint glass. Pours hazy orange yellow with a fluffy white head. Smells of tropical fruit with hints of citrus. Tastes of tropical fruit and citrus notes. Beer is light bodied and easy drinking, good carbonation. Overall, a good beer.
