This "best beers of the World" thing is getting old. These people are full of crap or these are the only beers in the world they ever tried. The pour is more of an orange than a brown with a light short lived tan head. The nose is quite unremarkable and has hints of soured malt with weak hops. The flavor is terrible and unbalanced - even sour to some extent. The hops are weak and unbalanced and overpowered by the sweet malt giving the off flavor sourness.

Pours a quite clear copper-brown color with a small white head and fast-rising soda-like carbonation. The lacing is relatively poor. Weak toasted malt notes define the aroma, but little else. Tasting yields some mild toasted malt notes, followed by a cloying cider-like sweetness all too common to the "12 Greatest Brews of the World". The finish is dry with lingering hints of toasted malt and an excessively sweet aftertaste. The mouth feel is overall, poor. This beer is certainly not brewed in a German style. My fiancée, who is German, thought that this beer was dreadful.

Package reviewed was a 16-ounce custom brown glass twist-off. ABV is 5.4%.

Part of the "12 Greatest Brews of the World" sampler pack found at my local Wal-Mart. No matter what the label says, they refuse to be any other color than orange. This beer poured a dark orange with minimal head and lace (+ one insect). The gnat was the most interesting thing about this beer. Practically no aroma (maybe some malt) and I actually thought about putting more insects in the beer so it would actually taste different than all the other Old European brews I have tried so far. No such luck.
