The color is fairly good with a brown tinged with amber. The head is moderate and one of the best from these 12 best beers of the world pack. The nose is fair and one of the best in this pack as well, malty sweet with some hop. The taste is hoppy but mild and out of balance to the malt. The malt is so mild and lacking that the hops have free reign on the palate. The aftertaste is blugh. Overall this beer sucks.

Cloudy reddish brown color with a moderately sized fast-dissipating off-white head and good lacing; the carbonation is slight. The aroma consists of weak, lightly toasted malt. Tasting yields thin toasted malt that is mildly sweet at the start and turns dry and tart as it nears the finish. There is none of the rich flavor typically found in decent brown ales (i.e. Pete's Wicked, Redhook, Newcastle). The mouth feel is quite thin and watery. Overall, this was a quite disappointing example of brown ale.

Package reviewed was a 16-ounce custom brown glass twist-off. ABV is 5.3%.

Part of the "12 Greatest Brews of the World" sampler pack found at my local Wal-Mart. I really wasn't surprised that this beer was not brown after trying their Scottish Red Ale which was orange. This was orange too, with a thin off-white head. Barely any malt aroma. Flavor was nothing to write home about either, alternating between sour and lightly malty. Faintly nutty dry finish. Another loser.
