Appearance – A pretty golden body with a decent head that went down rather quickly.

Smell – Light, fruity aroma supported by a delicate hop base. I think I picked up some raspberry in there.

Taste – The hop flavor is very subdued. The light fruit came out at the tongue OK, but it picked up some cheap sugary substance. No malt detectable in accordance with the style.

Mouthfeel – Lightly carbonated and light to medium in the body.

Drinkability – This wasn’t bad, but not one I’d brag about. It went down well enough but left a bad aftertaste with the cheap sugar flavor.

Light gold color, small head. A light bodied Kolsch style ale. Mild malts and hops, yet there is a lot of flavor in this beer. A very tasty traditional German style Kolsch. A light and refreshing beer, for a warm summer evening. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. Nice summer beer.

A golden, pale pour that had a decent head that decided to take off early. Initial smell is herbal hops with a lemon zest note.

The overall flavor is crisp and has a pronounced hop finish. Compared to the other American interpretations of Kolsch-styled beer I have had this summer, this one is a bit on the bitter side. The bitter reminds me of eating lemon peel. However, it does have a sufficient backdrop of sweetness (honey-like?), a very clean taste at that.

For some reason, I want a grilled ham n' cheese and some potato salad while eating this.

Made with pale and wheat malts; spalter select hops for bittering and aroma.
26 IBU, 4.8% ABV, OG=11 degrees plato.

Clear, bright marigold-yellow brew forms a thin white head with poor retention and lacing. Carbonation is moderate. Aroma is at first sweet, with hints of soap, pears, and corn. Mouthfeel is crisp and dry with a light body. Taste begins with bland "macrobrew" hops, corn towards the middle, and an otherwise dull bitterness. Not a Kolsch in my book, and a very average beer from an otherwise good brewery. Probably the worst Widmer I've had so far.

Ok came in the 12 oz Widmer brown bottle.
Well this looks different from the Kolsch beers I have had before..but then I have only had two others..so maybe this is true type..well it pours a light golden colour , with a livellt head that does not last long soon dissapears altogether,,no lacing
Theres a pretty strong smell of zesty type hops ..and some malt''almost like some European lagers.
Taste..is livelly nice sweet malt a short "zing" of hops and its gone does not hang around.
Pretty average on the tongue..not dry wee bit watery.
Its an average brew but that makes it a good drinker in hot weather.

Poured a light golden color with pretty nice fluffy head, smelled faintly malty with meaybe some lemon rind in the background.Taste was pretty light with some malt backbone to go along with fruity and a slightly wheaty taste.Really easy to drink,I have had a few better examples of the style but not bad for a hot summer day.

The beer pours a translucent gold color that is pleasing to the eye, topped with a matter of fact head that dissipates to fair lace that covers the glass. Aroma of malt dominates the nose, fresh malt start that is also cloying in its sweetness and the top middling. Quite acidic and the hops apropos for the style, dry lingering aftertaste, but not a favorite or a good effort from this otherwise decent brewery.

A welcome, light-colored ale on the first day of November. Won’t turn your teeth another color. Pleasant.

It displays an orangish-yello peach colored, hazy medium that carries a sequence of bubbles to the top.
My nostrils fill with wheaty malt sugar. This is the theme on the palate as well, but here the sugar has been digested/roasted dry. Lemon, orange, pineapple, soap, chamomile, sandalwood, dune grass, are all dressed with sweet corn syrup. It is an orange vanilla cream soda. Easy drinking. Robust style. As far as Koelsch goes, this is not on the same planet as Frueh.

Pale golden color with a thin white head. The aroma is clean, floral, with a faint hint of malt and lemon. Clean crisp flavor with lemony grain and malt sweetness. Good carbonation. Well balanced between the malt sweetness and the hops bitterness.

Presentation: 12 oz brown long neck donning raised glass of a big “W” for Widmer three times around the bottle … fancy eh? An ink jet printed drink before date above the label for freshness purposes.

Appearance: Pale golden ,with a slight haze, in colour with a faint spritzy white lace.

Smell: Faint lemon zest with hints of pale malt and faded herbal hop.

Taste: Light to medium body. Mouthful of crisp bready grain with some malt sweetness, carbonation sets up the crispness and the wheat finishes it off. Even hop bitterness with a lemony flavour in the end. Dries towards the end with more grain and a touch of hop.

Notes: Very refreshing with a quenching finish, a great summer time brew ... not a surprise coming from Widmer. 4.8 % abv.
