Great red color. Served in a standard pint glass. Poured smoothly and formed a great tan head that lasted for most of the pint. Slight lacing down the side of the glass. Caramel and Chocolate notes are present but not overpowering as a bit of hop bitterness rounds out the overall taste. Fresh baked bread and slight hop aroma on the nose. Medium bodied resulting in a warm mouthfeel. Another great beer from Widmer Bros. and a great second beer in their W' series.

Aroma - the wiff was of biscuit malt and quickly moved to a herbal grassy bouquet from the hops.
Appearance - A deep, rich, cherry red color with an amber colored collar of foam that held its frothy appearance for some time.
Flavor - I immediately noticed the taste of fine caramel and chocolate malts followed by a combination of floral and bitter hops that combine to finish quite smoothly.
Mouthfeel - Medium full body with fullness of the malts supporting the hoppiness all in all creating a fine drinking experience I wish this was available all year.

I liked this one. On tap at Bones. I've always liked the Red style, although this one is a bit bigger than what I usually find. This looked like scotch in the glass with a sticky then white head. Enough to leave rings of lacing in the glass. There was a low piney aroma with some malty notes also evident. Crisp medium mouthfeel. I found it balanced and tasty. Smooth malt, slightly piney hop finish. Satifies.

First observation great name. Next comes a slightly musky aroma like damp grass drifting off a head of big soft suds. A sultry malt complex provides a solid platform for hop flavors that emerge as citric and crisp then play through with a honed edge. Broad, powdery lace forms easily on the glass.
NW Red is a beer of bold balances and cherry malts. The body is characteristically clear and draws closer to amber than pure red. A good choice when visiting the Gasthaus.

Presentation: Dark green 750 ml bottle with painted label. A small Widmer logo and the name of the beer is followed by, "Annual Employee Meeting ~ January 26, 2005" I could tell you how I came into posession of the bottle...but my men would then be forced to 'send you on vacation'.
This beer poured bright copper...as shiny as a newly minted penny. The floral hoppy nose eminates from a two finger collar of foan which receeds leaving a stunning wake of lace.
This beer has the taste and mouthfeel of a beautiful red...fully malted, heavy on the tongue, and perfectly carbonated. The finish brings forth the glory of the hop...Pacific Northwest style. A crisp piney hop bite on the lower portion of the cheeks is followed by a nice hop fade...rejoined mid-finish by the sweet malt requesting an encore.
Superbly balanced and a joy to savor...I can only hope that this will be released as 'W '06' next year...
