19.4 oz. can, paced less than 2 months ago - poured into a Aecht Schlenferla tall glass. Pleasantly surprised by the overall character of this brew. It’s definitely a west coast style - beautiful color (rich copper without any pesky haze). Hop ‘’bite’ is at an assertively appropriate level for a DIPA. Malts are bittersweet. Readily available and budget priced (4 pint cans for $6.99 at Bi-Mart - May 2026). The Northwest is lucky to have OG breweries like this that keep plugging away.

Good local beer available in grocery stores in Portland Oregon USA. Hope that you get a chance to try it where you are.

WIDMER BROTHERS – DEAD LIFT IMPERIAL IPA 8.6 ABV
The beer pours a semi clear golden color with a medium head. The first sip hits you with a big citrus pineapple rind , star fruit and some radish in the background. This a big flavable brew with lots of body and the alcohol is held in the background hidden by the citrus fruit. Beer is ok but nothing special to my taste buds.

On-tap 11/19/2010 at Doherty’s East Ave Irish Pub in Pawtucket, RI, served in a tulip glass.
A: The beer is a bright reddish amber color, with a short off-white head that fades quickly and leaves a thin lace on the glass.
S: The aroma contains fruity citrus, floral hops and caramelized malts.
T: The taste starts out with sweet flavors of citrus and caramel. Then a strong piney hops presence comes in. The malt character is hearty and brings a decent balance. The after-taste is slightly hoppy and slightly sweet.
M: Crisp and a little smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is dry but slightly sticky.
O: Tasty, goes down ok, not too filling, good kick, good representation of style, while there are several other 2IPA’s that are better, this is a solid beer worth drinking for a while.

3 cans from a sampler 12 pack poured in to a pint glass. Pours a rich gold color with a foamy white head. Sweet smelling like orange bread. Very malty up front with a sweet and bitter wet finish. A very tasty and drinkable IPA.

Some scrap notes from 2018.
6 pack of 12 ounce bottles.
What a great bold and bitter IPA! It has a deep orange color and a pretty funky hop aroma right as I open the bottle even before pouring it into a pint glass. It has some pretty solid malt action as well that is sweet and crunchy but the hops are 'dank' and thick and again pungent. I also taste some orange/citrus fruit. The alcohol sort of sneaks up because the brew drinks real smooth and goes down easy. Excellent for sure!

sturdy and fresh and delicious, a little bit old school with a richer malt profile for balance, a deeper color approaching light copper, a tall white head from the can, and a pretty good bang for the buck overall, you generally dont see imperial ipa types in a mixed pack, so i was stoked on the value here too. its got nice back and forth between the hops and the grain both in aroma and flavor, some light spiciness here, not overly dry hopped to me, not trying to be modern or trendy, some toasted biscuit to the malt, but its never really sweet to me, good bitterness at the end, slightly vegetal, a hint of grapefruit and wet pine, quite fresh to my senses as well. the body is fuller, and there is a bit of an alcohol bite to this as it warms, so i sip it a little slowly even though i am very thirsty. it stays together at temperature, holds its carbonation, and really satisfies the need for a stronger ipa. very northwestern to me, seems appropriate for these guys. i really like all the beers in this new ipa mixed twelve pack, nice to see a new package from them!

Pours a beautiful amber/copper clear..large attractive cream coloured head..thick and frothy.
Great hop aromas, fruity, resin and floral..very nice.
Taste the same as the aroma but backed by a huge toffee maltiness.'
