i have heard this beer taking a lot of flack, not selling well and such, being talked down, but i really liked it. i am sick of sterile boring pils types, and i liked the character this had, hoppier than most, and with more flavor from the hops i mean, not just czech type bitterness, not sure what the varietals are, but this has dry hopped and herbal qualities, still consistent with old world styling, but just a little more nuanced. it also has a lot of yeast flavor to it, more than most, and while that may come at the expense of its overall crispness, i still found this refreshing, and i like the added flavor it contributes. its pleasant to drink, with a simple grain profile and an airy lightness to the feel, small bodied and highly effervescent from the tap. i dont get what people dont like about this, its drinkable and distinct, but still checks all the necessary boxes for the style. its been ages since i had anything new or different from widmer, and i thought this was darn good. who needs more samey lager? not me! love the hop profile here.

12 oz. can from a 6 pack bought from Safeway in West Salem OR.
$9.99
Pours the typical pale yellow pils colour but has nice strings of carbnation visible..frothy half inch thick white head.
Aroma is pretty weak..paper, biscuit, weak grassy hop.
Taste is OK..the hops are a bit more lively ..at least discenable. Some honey tones.. grass.
Mouth feel is fine and well carbonated.
A fairly simple North German style of pils..kinda similar to classic Becks.
