The write-up in the paper had this beer as being the best thing to have ever been presented to the drinking public. I would have to disagree. Three Kings is mentioned as a blend of Widmer's three other winter warmers. Their Dopplebock, Burbon Bock, and Wintrmacht.
I thought the taste was a bit bland, to say the very least. The color was dark and had the appearance of a gret beer. The aroma was nothing special; I don't remember anything really jumping out at you to make you want this beer, nor to steer you away from it either. I think Widmer was trying too hard to make an outstanding beer for this winter ale festival and they failed to deliver the goods.
