Appearance: Dark mahogany body is crowned by a small, coarse, cream-colored head. Thin, fine lacing adorns the glass walls.
Aroma: Whiskey and dark cocoa dominate the aroma, as well as roasted malts. The alcohol aroma is strong, but not overpowering, with notes of wood, also.
Taste: Begins with moderate toasted malts, soon spicy alcohol presents. Mildly bitter cocoa forms the backbone of the taste, and n understated presence of wood carries throughout. Hints of vanilla are present along the way, along with hints of coffee. Finishes with mildly bitter notes of roasted grain and hops.
Mouth feel: A touch thin, perhaps, but smooth and pleasant, with just a hint of carbonation.
Drinkability/notes:Not over-the-top, although I wish it had been, still, quite good, I wish it had been pushed to the limits of the style, as roasted malt, dark chocolate, and alcohol offer such possibilities for greatness.
Presentation: Packaged in an enameled, standard twenty-two ounce brown glass bomber bottle, with a pry-off crown, and sealed with red wax, served in a New Belgium chalice.

No real chocolate flavor. No molasses deep RIS sweet finish. Just good. 22oz bottle. Dec 13 date. $15 bevmo. Yes Seriously.$15. I like chocolate stouts and I like RIS. Seemed natural but came back in between. It was more bitter and less body than an RIS.

Pours a dark brown with off white head. At this point most of the chocolate and coffee flavors and smell has faded. Beer might be past it prime, would recomend drinking immediatly. Still not the worst imperial stout ive had by far.
