"This ale is hopped with the sharp citrus flavours of North American Oregon hops and a blend of traditional Scottish crystal and red malts."

Hand-pulled pint in The Briar Rose (Spoons), Birmingham on 30th Oct 2013.
More amber than red, even though the pump-clip stated 'Red Ale', with a white, lasting head.
Pleasant enough blend of flavours, mild citrus nose with malty overtones: taste is 50-50 with the hops and malts vieing for position, with neither winning the battle.
Medium bodied and very drinkable: but I'm on a mission, so only one of these today.

Claverhouse Red Ale on cask at the Central, St. Andrews. A bright red amber ale, with really good retention and lacing of a smooth creamy head.
Smell is pretty non-descript beyond caramel and malt notes, some sweet fruity and nutty notes.
Taste has a firm malt body with caramel and mild roasty nutty notes and a decent amount of hopiness lending a crisp somewhat citrusy bitterness, balanced and refreshing thought not especially complex but a well-made amber. Some nice subtleties made for a tasty brew, mouthfeel is light, quite smooth. Subtle hops coming through. Gets the job done as a nice session red ale. Enjoyable.
