This deliciously dark oatmeal stout is brewed with a combination of dark malts, roasted barley and oats to give complex roasted flavours and a smooth, creamy mouthfeel. Brewed in honour of Jack Black, the mysterious cobbler of Llareggub, this is the latest in our range of Dylan Thomas inspired beers.

A 500ml bottle with a BB of Feb 2014. Picked up a little while back from a B&M store. Described as an oatmeal stout; named after another Dylan Thomas character.
Poured into a tulip pint glass. A dark reddish-brown colour that appears black in the glass. Forms a large head of creamy beige foam that lasts for a couple of minutes before settling as a patchy surface layer. Slight lacing. Aroma of mild roasted malt, grain, fruity ale yeast, a twinge of dried fruit and faint stewed leaves. A hint of sweetness. Quite bland.
Tastes of mild roasted malt with a dry, lingering finish. Notes of roasted grain, faint burnt notes, fruity ale yeast, subtle dried fruit, a twinge of molasses/caramel and stewed leaves. A touch of sweetness, followed by a restrained, malty bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth and tingly, with pleasant carbonation but a thin, insubstantial body for the style. Could stand to be more creamy. Slightly astringent, accompanied by an aftertaste of weak roasted malt and yeast.
Meh - a bog-standard stout. Looks alright, but that's its best attribute. The aroma and flavour have a mild roasted malt character with hints of grain and yeast. Little depth to hold your interest. So-so body; too thin. Another cheap beer pumped out for the masses. Nothing terrible but I would hesitate to recommend it - no need to seek it out.

Pours a clear reddy-brown/black colour with a pretty nice off-white head. Good lacing.
Smells of strong malts - burnt and sweet.
Tastes weaker than it smells, fairly watery and lacking in that creamy sweetness you'd want from an oatmeal stout. That same burnt aspect though, with a slight sweetness and some bitter hops on the finish.
Overall a disappointment but not particularly bad either, especially considering it's cheap and mass made.
