I did a much more detailed review on the new Double Ball & Chain IPA in its own spot, however on this night, and just for the release, Jay whipped up something very special. A one time(hopefully not) batch of the Double Ball & Chain that was dry hopped! Wow, I cannot say enough about this one, but will try to keep it brief. The regular is brilliant and just a great brew, but when it was dry hopped it took on a whole new life. It was super smooth, no joke, at 10.5% it was one of, if the the smoothest high gravity brews I have ever had. Their was just not even a hint of anything in it. And sticky, the resin coming off the hops was just great. It was just too fresh for words. Just a great experiment here. The head retention became almost a joke on this one, as pouring them was a long slow process due to the tremendous amounts of carbonation. Great dry finish, and so clean a taste. The most remarkable thing by far though was how smooth it was and I know I have said it 4 times but it was just effortless to drink, well sip actually. This was just a really great bonus for the night, and I was just really happy to have been there. Too bad more didnt show up as this was something to be had for sure. Hoepfully Jay will come around and try this one more time for those who hadnt tried it, or for people like me who just want it again. Great job and a must try if it ever comes back.
