Pours a nice golden color. Great clarity and white, rocky head with decent retention.
Nose and finish had a little DMS but that's ok for this style of beer.
Medium-low mouth feel with good carbonation.
Overall a decent beer and I'm not that fond of American blond ales.

Had at the brewpub directly. Served by the brewer himself. Served from tap into a shaker. Poured a slightly hazy golden yellow with a minimal white head. Maintained phenomenal lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, grain, and wheat. The flavor was of sweet malt, grain, wheat, and bread. It had a light feel on the palate with mild carbonation. Overall this was a decent brew. Quite refreshing, but not very crisp on flavors. While it wasn't very complex it did do decent for what Blue Ridge was shooting for with this one. It was very easy drinking and could be a decent gateway into craft beer for some of the BMC drinkers out there. But not a brew for the hardcore craft beer drinker though...

On tap at the brewpub in a shaker pint. Light see-thru gold with excellent retention from the frothy white head. Impressive rings of lacing as well. It would be interesting to see this in appropriate glassware (assuming it is indeed a kristalweizen).
Definitely not picking up any weizen qualities in the nose. In fact, it smells much like a macro lager: sweet slighty boozy corn (even at the low ABV), some very light grain. Thankfully the flavor takes some steps in the right direction, specifically with a touch of wheat mixed in with a steady dose of cereal grains and a quick splash of lemon at the swallow. The lowish carbonation is typical of Blue Ridge, but doesn't seem to suit this particular beer. Oddly, it is medium-bodied, yet has a certain watery quality at the same time.
Overall impression: I'm assuming this has some usefulness in converting macro drinkers, but for the style it's bland and forgettable. Not recommended at all as a kristalweizen (although I'd be a bit more kind to it as a blonde ale).

Well, I would have never guessed that this was a KristalWeizen until I saw it posted on here as one.
This beer is designed as the "intro" beer for the Bud drinkers who come to the brewery, I would have thought it was an American light given the flavor profile.
Pours out a clear golden straw color, light head dissapates quickly.
Smell is lightly grassy, a slight touch of hop, some yeast notes in there, but a bit watery.
Flavor to suit. A touch of citrus, light yeasts, some pale malt, but very light on the palate given the low ABV.
I have had some really good Kristalweiss in Germany, so it's not really the flavor I'm used to for a Kristal, but it really is something good to the Macro drinkers started on and curious for more. I enjoy one of these to start with nearly every thime I have visited the Brewpub

Kurli Blonde, 3.9 abv%, 14 IBUs, on tap at the Blue Ridge Brewing Company, Greenville, SC, 12/26/2008.
Appearance: A crystal clear, pale yellow/golden-bodied beer with no head and almost no lacing that leaves naught but a thin sticky ring of white lace after it fades.
Aroma: Grainy, with faint touches of yeasty earth and hay. Not too much going on here, though it's not unpleasant.
Taste: Faint honey sweetness, light and crisp, with some light, mild bitterness, a touch of grainy wheatyness, and some faint, spicy grassy hops with brief flourishes of citrus, particularly in finish.
Mouthfeel: Big bubbled and uneven, very thin, with high carbonation that makes for a tingly but still soft and powdery mouth.
Drinkability: One of my least favorite styles, though this beer is honestly not too bad. Incredibly low in alcohol and, though the flavors are nothing to write home about, it's drinkable enough.

I have had this one on tap numerous times, the latest being just this evening when I realized I had never actually typed up a review. So, here ya go, poured into a pint glass and consumed on 12/13/2008.
Pour was light and bright. Golden yellow in color with a nice fizzy white head of foam, quick fade left a nice broken crown and a bit of side glass lace. The aroma is light, small hints of grain and light bread malts, a touch of light yeast coming through and a noticeable light hop note. The flavor though is a bit too light, thin with a shallow aftertaste, though the beer itself is very smooth and very drinkable, especially in the summer time.
Overall a decent selection on a hot day, though I have to say far from my favorite that has come from Jay.

Appearance: Lightly hazy, burnished gold body with a small white head.
Smell: Fairly mild aroma of crackers and sour lemons.
Taste: Light wheat cracker flavor with no more than a touch of sweetness. Hint of lemons. Mild bitterness helps the beer finish dry.
Mouthfeel: Light-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: A respectable light blonde ale.

This beer was tasted in a weizen glass from the growler, the night after getting home from the Brewpub.
This beer pours a hazy rust orange with a decent white head that holds well and leaves some lace. The beer smells with a sweetness from the wheat without much of a yeasty aroma. The taste is a mirror of the smell. The mouthfeel is a little off. Overall, a forgetable beer.

The beer came with no head, none, zero, and was a lightly hazy pale golden with a slight amber.
The aroma was fruity and yeasty with a slightly sour aspect and some wheat presence.
The flavor was light with caramel and wheat and a zesty orange peel character. The flavor was also fruity but had a husky grainy character that really detracted.
The finish was dry with lasting orange citrus and too strong husky and grainy tannins into the aftertaste. The body was medium light and the beer was badly undercarbonated. No alchol and not much flavor, skip it!

BRBC version of a filtered American wheat. Pale straw, minimal head. Wheat doughy, grassy, leafy aroma. Tart lemon wheat flavor. Not my favorite style, but solid nonetheless. Alternating between tart, crisp and smooth, this could be a good summer brew to quench the thirst brought on by the SC sun.
