Draft at brewery. Inky black with small creamy head. Aroma is coffee and burnt toast. Taste also focuses squarely on the roast grains, pretty bitter. Nice feel.

A nearly black beverage with a brown firm head, leaving some lacing.
The smell is mostly toast and some dried fruits.
Tasting of sweet chocolate, dark toasted bread, dried fruits.
Little carbonation, smooth and soft, a simple body, a dry finish.
A dry stout. Rather modest.

On nitro-tap at Faultline Brewing Co. on 7/20/09.
A - Attractive niro pour with cascading colors of browns and deep tans, eventually revealing an almost coal black body with a finger's width of creamy tan head.
S - Dry roasted malt and coffee notes comprise the basis of the aroma. Chocolate and sweet lactic notes also emerge, as well as an earthy hop character.
T - Opens with sweet malt and chocolate notes, then segues into slightly more bitter territory with coffee and a roasted malt character. Finishes with a bit of earthy hop bitterness.
M - Medium bodied with a smooth, velvety texture resulting in an extremely soft, silky mouthfeel. This stout glides down the throat with ease. Mild bitter finish with a good bit of dryness on the palate.
D - Another fine nitro offering from Faultline. They can certainly pour a mean nitro ale. Very please with both of my selections overall.

Visited the brewery while in the area for business. Tried most of their beers but settled on the stout for the evening.
Appearance: Dark black, thick creamy head that lingered for the entire drinking time.
Nose: A bit light actually. The usual roasty chocolate smells, but far less than I would like.
Taste: Not bad. Less roasty and less bitter than (say) Guinness but what you'd expect from an Irish stout. Maybe a little more comperable to Murphys than Guinness.
Mouthfeel: Very good, creamy and rich from the nitrogen
Drinkability: Very good, this was my session beer for the night.
Overall, a very drinkable beer. Nothing spectacular but well made and nicely balanced. I'd certainly get it again.

Pours a pitch black body, with a thick, creamy, tan coloured nitro head. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel, very full bodied stout. Taste was full of wonderful roasted flavours, chocolate malt, oatmeal and coffee. Great balance of bitterness and roasted malt. Pretty good stout overall.
