A clear medium amber beer, an off-white solid head with lacing.

The smell is rather anonymously bread, nuts and fruit, apples.

The taste starts with brown sugar, brown bread, ripe apples and pears, some hay and grass.

Little carbonation, very small bubbles, soft and easy to drink.

A rather modest beer.

On tap at the brewery. Nitro/carbon blend. Reviewed from notes.

A: Served chilled in a pint glass with about a quarter inch of dense cream colored nitro head over dark amber liquid. A thick film of head lasted until the last drop but left very little lacing.
S: There isn't much scent to this beer, which may or may not be trapped by the dense layer of head that lasted through the whole beer.
T: Flavor is faintly malty with a touch of hops and a subtle sweetness. No bitterness present. Cigar (tobacco) notes in the aftertaste along with the hops.
M: Medium body with more of a carb mouthfeel than nitro. Goes down easy.
D: Refreshing enough but nothing spectacular. Went well with dinner but I would order something else next time. I liked the nitrogen-carbonation blend however. The mouthfeel was all carbon but the look was all nitro.

The menu says it's "an English style amber ale with sweet caramel malt flavors that yield to bitter hop flavors from a good dose of English hops. The Nitrogen/Carbon Dioxide blend gives this beer a creamy head and smooth drinkability."

It had a very good nitro head on it - thick and creamy. It smelled a bit malty. The color was amber and it was super clear.

The taste was pretty good and the nitrogen head definitely added a smooth creaminess to the beer. It had a slight bit of light caramelly flavor and a slight English style hop bitterness to it.

Overall it was not too bad of a beer. Again, I felt like it was a little light for the style, and I think I expected a little more flavor to it. It went well with my meal, and would probably go well with just about any food, as it wasn't as full of flavor as I had hoped.

On nitro-tap at Faultline Brewing Co. on 7/20/09.

A - Beautiful slow cascading effect revealed a slightly hazy deep caramel-colored, copper-tinged amber body with one-finger creamy, milky eggshell head that retained amazingly, yielding a coat of wispy, wavy lacing all around the glass.

S - Sweet toffee, rich caramel and subtle noble English hops comprise the essence of this bitter. Hops impart a mild tea-like character. Aroma is subtle, well-balanced and very true to style.

T - Sweet toffee and caramel dominate the initial flavor, then segues into a mild hop bitterness with hints of flowers and perfume.

M - Medium body with an exceptionally smooth, silky texture resulting in a very soft mouthfeel that's not too thin at all. Subtle bittersweet finish with a hint of dryness in the finish.

D - Excellent bitter overall. The nitro really smoothed this up, giving it an amazing mouthfeel. Well-balanced and flavorful, this bitter is a very solid example of the style.

served at cellar temp. Pours a dark copper color with an off white head-no hop aroma to speak of-taste was light in malt -I thought at first it was the cask pale. Mouthfeel is medium and smooth-nitro smooth. This is one of the more drinkable beers I have had in a while-not a great beer-but one to have a few with friends.
