L- Deep chestnut red, clear (filtered I assume), with a 2Cm pale tan head. [ps 20mins later, holds really unusually well]
S- Brighter than it's look suggests, hints of piquant fruit then into deep malts beneath.
T- Ditto^, the taste is also immediately quite bright and engaging. Deep roast malts but suggestions of sour-apple too.
F- It's something different. It doesn't feel at all heavy, I get little sense of the 8.1% ABV. That seems blended into the meaty rich-sour/dry feel.
O- Meaty, hides it's ABV well behind a sour yet rich front. It's a cleverly constructed beer. The 'hefty yet bright' ying/yang at play should mean you could enjoy a few without wearing out the palate. Good for winter, or as a late-session beer in warmer months... Overall vs my personal taste I didn't need quite that prominent a sour note, but overall it's a classy beer. I am sure this beer will have some major life-long fans.... it smacks of that kind of profile/pedigree.
330ml bottle BB: 13/08/21 £3.35 Bought from BeautifulBeers/BurySt.Edmunds as part of a large pick-your own consignment to London.
ps. Wow, the last review was 10 years ago! hehe....

I got this beer for a tasting session at my place. We drank this one after an epic tasting session with the old westy's redcap and extra8.
This is quit a good brownie. Poured in a tasting glass the beer looks good, good carbonation and a very nice lightbrown head.
I would describe this beer as a round beer with no sharp edges. Very drinkable. Nice smells of the barleymalt come in the nose.
I have a few left in the fridge, let Christmas come!
