A - medium amber brown with a decent sized bubbly white head
S - caramel, malt, biscuit with some earthy hop
T - lots of sweet caramel biscuit with a strong earthy hop farewell
M - medium bodied and moderately carbonated
O - a little too much sweetness for my liking. A decent brew but by no means one of Bartemans best.

Copper bodied with a huge glorious white foamy head.
Real good nose hops and and floral notes.
Nice balance of savoury biscuit taste balanced against peppery yeasty bitterness
Nice flowing mouthfeel good low key carbonation.
A pint of English bitter.

A 500ml bottle with a BB of April 2012. Brewed for St. George's day, so I'm a little late to the party.
Poured into a Guinness pint glass. A clear coppery-amber hue with medium carbonation. Produces a head of frothy off-white foam that doesn't hang around. Initially almost no discernible aroma, although it begins to appear as the beer warms up. Caramel malt with stewed herbal notes and a hint of butter.
Tastes predominantly of caramel malt with a dry, herbal bitterness. Distinctive flavour of stewed hops/herbs with burnt notes and hints of butter and solvent/alcohol. Has a slight medicinal quality to it. Mouthfeel is prickly and rather astringent. Stewed leaf aftertaste.
Not brilliant. The malty character and bitterness are well balanced, but I find the flavour of stewed leaves unappealing and dull. This doesn't have anything to set it apart from many other middle-of-the-road ales. Don't bother....

I've been critical of Batemans and their trend of brewing so many 'seasonal' beers in the past, but this is really good and I'll be looking out for this one from now on.
