Heineken España “El Alcázar”
330 ml green glass bottle coded “23/09/24 L327172410058” and sampled on 29/11/23
Notes via stream of consciousness: This is brewed with 100% barley malt, and also with Citra hops, including dry hopping. It’s poured a clear, very deep golden/light amber colored body beneath a full head of white foam. There are some citrusy notes in the aroma but unfortunately it’s also a bit skunky. This is available in cans so I’ll keep an eye out for that. The grain is lightly sweet and bready. On to the taste… the grainy malt dominates but there are threads of citrusy hops running through it and a firm, balancing bitterness. I can’t make out any really clear fruit notes within the citrus but it seems to lean towards orange, at least for me. In the mouth it’s medium bodied and crisp; fine-bubbled with a standard carbonation level. I poured half of the bottle and then the other half and the head held up well each time. The lacing is good as well having left craggy rings of lace about the glass. I’m currently in southern Spain, in Sevilla, where Cruzcampo rules and this was a nice change of pace. It’s nice to taste some hops again!

De Carrefour. En copa Hirsch. Jugando a The Last of Us. Lager industrial bien hecha, sin ninguna nota rara, muy bebible y más maltosa de lo habitual
