Highland Brewing releases this commemorative beer in celebration of the Asheville Amadeus festival. Crafted in honor of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, our Wolfgang 1756 is a classic Vienna-style lager, amber in color with a malty body, very low hop character and a low level of bitterness. A wonderful session beer - crisp, light-bodied and refreshing. The perfect pairing of beer and music.

I had this on tap at the brewery but also picked up a few bottles to bring home. I don't know if it is retired or if these are old. If this is old beer, this is the best damn old beer I've ever had.
Pours a clear, light amber with a nice white head. The nose is bread. The initial note on the palate is toasted bread and a hint of caramel. Slightly sweet in the finish with a mild bitterness that is pleasant and gives way to let the malt shine. The malt is the feature but it is delicate in its form, and even has a brief hint of creaminess prior to the finish. Medium-light body.
This is a premium lager and is expertly made. I wish I bought more!

A wonderful session beer - crisp, light-bodied and refreshing. The perfect pairing of beer and music." Brewed in the style of a Vienna Lager, available in 22 oz. bottles and on limited draft. One-time bottled release.
Poured from a 22 oz. bottle to a tulip glass.
(Appearance) Pours a fizzy, crisp foam head of a cream-white color over a pale copper-amber body with ample, lively carbonation. Retention is below average and lacing is light and spotty. 3
(Smell) Pale, bready malts with a light graininess forward, light, earthy hops with a moderate bitterness, very clean, reserved sweetness. Potency is moderate. 3.75
(Taste) Light toasted caramel syrups, biscuit malts, modestly sweet, very clean, highly drinkable. Overall very enjoyable. 4
(Mouthfeel) Texture is slick, smooth, clean and moderately dry. Carbonation is full, generating a moderate frothiness and a briskly crisp finish. Body is medium for the style, light/medium overall. Balance is very slightly sweet over earthy bitter. Alcohol presence is light and there are no off characters. 3.5
(Overall) A very solid-drinking ale by Highland brewing, nothing revolutionary but very refreshing. Possibly worth a sample as a quality alternative to Boston Lager, at a reasonable price. 3.75

Pours a five plus finger light cream head that fades slowly to a thin layer leaving a good lace. Crystal clear amber color. Good carbonation and medium bodied. Sweet grassy nose and taste is smooth, some malty sweetness, good session lager. 22oz bottle filled Feb 2015, gift from North Carolina.

Amber fading to burnt orange clear body with a finger of cream foam. White bread dough, grains, hints of toasted caramel, and a touch of earthy spice. Taste is much the same, malts are more pilsner like than expected but provide a satisfying crisp grainy finish, no real hop character but great breadiness while not being overtaxing on the palate. Feel is crisp, light, bready, and smooth. Rock me amadeus!

Look = Poured into a standard tall lager glass. Head dissipated very quickly, and left zero lacing. Highly carbonated, almost reminded me of ginger ale.
Smell = Nice malt aroma with subtle spices, very pleasant
Taste = Forward malt, with some mild hops and spices in the finish. Not bad tasting, but nothing great either. Very dry finish.
Feel = The mouth feel was very bland and watery. Reminded me of a macro light beer.
Overall = I`m terribly dissapointed, and expected allot more from Highlands brewing company. Not a lager to write home about, and will not seek out again. A very boring bland beer, from such a great brewery, hard to believe.

Poured into an Ommegang Pilsner glass. Has beautiful orange marmalade color with two fingers of foam. For the aroma, some slight bready notes are present. The lager is mild in the taste however it finishes with some very nice and almost delicate bread notes that complement the fullness of the mouth feel. Highly drinkable and one of my more favorite beers from Highland.

Pours a glassy orange color under a small head of wispy creaminess. Mild, but enticing aromas of bready dough and fresh grain. Clean, toasty German malt flavor brings a soft sweetness before a trailing leafy hop spice balances it out. Light and crisp with only a slight bitterness. Simple and satisfying…I love a well-made lager.
