With a series that celebrates exploration, invention and creativity, Highland brewers have full liberties to go absolutely crazy- and to the delight of Appalachian craft beer lovers.
In this winter's rendition, their Mexican Hot Chocolate pour to suit the liking of that namesake- dark brown, just off of black, the opaque stout carries a short and stubborned head. Its aromas are rich with coffee, cocoa, cream and a pep of cinnamon spice. Its taste is chocolatey with latte-like coffee flavor and a texture that's silky smooth.
As the middle palate develops, its velvety cream flavors and textures seduce the tastebuds with its effortless drinkability and as the chocolate and medium-strength roast softens. Trailing with walnut, burnt toast and chicory, the taste begins to dry and the cinnamon and light capsaicin warms the throat.
Finishing full yet not absurd, the drinkability is high as the allspice medley of cinnamon and nutmeg assist in a marshmallowy finish with heavy whipping cream and bittersweet chocolates continue a long draw in aftertaste.
