Came in a snifter nearly jet black but with some ruby highlights,a thinner creamy mocha colored head atop.A great mix of bitter chocolate and mildly sour cherries on the nose, faint toasted oak and coffee roast was detected as well. The same components of the aromas hit home on the palate, bitter chocolate with a touch of vanilla then the lightly tart cherries make for almost a black forest cake flavor. There is just enough roast to make for a well rounded palate,a fantastic job here from Highland.
