On tap at Marin Brewing Company in Larkspur, CA.
Aged 10 months in Breckenridge bourbon barrels.
Pours an opaque black with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa powder, fudge, caramel, toffee, and bourbon aromas. Taste is much the same with cocoa powder, chocolate syrup, caramel, toffee, vanilla, and bourbon flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and sticky mouthfeel. Overall, this is a very good beer with awesome bourbon barrel aging that works well with the base beer.
Serving type: on tap.
