750ml bottle, tulip, best by 12/2/22.
Rich golden beer is capped by a thick, meringue-like head.
Overripe banana. Very powerful, phenolic yeast dominates the aroma.
The flavor is more banana - banana candy, overripe banana, dehydrated banana. Medium high sweetness is a bit surprising. As I search, there is a touch of alcohol and sweet bread to give just a hint of dimension.
Medium body, slick, with medium-low carbonation. The sweetness along with the plodding mouthfeel weigh on everything.
I find this sweeter than expected.

Poor example of a biere de garde. Great example of a Belgian strong ale. Biere de garde is supposed to smell and taste clean, using a lager yeast at higher fermenting temperatures,or a clean ale yeast at lower fermenting temperatures. This ale uses a Belgian yeast. Strong phenolic smell and taste, expected for Belgian ales. Not acceptable for biere de garde.

Good! Malty and has that distinctive "estery", sort-of "spicy" flavor profile that makes that a lovely option.

My first time in a Lidl store today and I found this.Pours into a stemmed glass a clear medium golden with a great looking blooming white crown that sticks like glue to the sides of the glass as it settles slowly into a frothy mass.Big pilsner malts and some chalk in the nose,a definite herbal smack as well.Dry and somewhat crisp on the palate, mild yeasty notes but not phenolic, that herbal smack in the finish. Is this the same beer as the others had? This is a highly quaffable and solid French country ale here,a nice find.

From the bottle, it pours a clear amber with a nice white head that very slowly dissipates, gradually sinking. In the nose, there is some yeast and a touch of hops. In the mouth, it is lightly spicy and mild.

Clear yellow brew with plenty of foam in the Champagne flute. Deeply malty, but quite refreshing on a hot evening. Moderately strong and a little alcohol tasting. Heavy on the yeast with hints of bubble gum, a lot of pear, and a bitterish astringent finish. Starts out sweet but quite dry at the end with that scratchy yeasty aftertaste.
I don't think I would call this a Bière de Garde, it's more of a strong Belgian Pale Ale, French style. Actually quite drinkable but the strong flavors get tiresome after a couple of glasses. From the 750 ml bottle (two euros!) purchased at Lidl in Sens. It's their store brand and the brewery is listed at Les Brasseurs de Gayant in Arques.

Poured into a tulip glass to allow nest possible head retention.....my cunning plan worked for about 3 minutes!
Body looks a little over coppery for a blonde.
Aroma is not too bad, and definitely the beers best feature. Plenty of hops, but lacking some depth.
Taste is ok, not up to the Belgian Beer equivalent, as most wouldn't be, a bit harsh on the tongue, over sweet with only a twist of malt.
Feel is a bit artificial, but given the 7%abv it goes down pretty well.
Overall I wish I had not bothered reviewing, but my sources of untested Belgian's have dried up for the moment, and I was getting desperate.
Overall an ok beer, cheap to by and way better than most lager and pils offerings.....it just isn't Belgian!

Review: large 75cl bottle of La Blonde de Ch’Nord: ABV: 7.2%
Came in a nice big corked and caged bottle, which was funny as it was lumped in with the wine section in the Lidl I bought it in, which would explain why there were so many bottles unsold. By pure chance as passing I noted it was actually a beer! I rarely buy wine, only for special occasions! Anyway for a large bottle, this was cheap, about 1.50 Euros or less…….or something ridiculous like that.
Nice head on pour, big white creamy head, beer was dark golden, looks ok.
Very yeasty smell, a bit metallic, quite strong but nice all the same.
On taste was strong, bit chemical and not just yeasty but something else.
Very strong, and very bitter. Jesus those hops!
Bit too fruity with bananas and a very strong bitter aftertaste.
Too strong, not nice, and not smooth
Got a taste of cream as well, urgh. Tinty metallic taste and overall not great at all. Disappointing.
