Sampled this bad boy at the brewery in nowhere, VT in June of '08. Off the tap this beer was a burgundy color leaning towards the ruby side. Khaki head displayed little retention but did lace some. Aromas of concentrated and dried fruits, figs and raisins with some alcohol esters. The flavors were deep and malty. At first it is sweet with caramel malt and some toffee tones, then the alcohol steps up which faded back towards roasted malts again. The sweetness is syrupy and reminds me (maybe because this is Vermont?) of maple. Smooth mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Quite enjoyable and a good example of the style.

Thanks to grassrootsVT for this...
Appears a semi-transparent burgundy toned brown with a small, off-white head that quickly fades into a mild cap and collar. Scattered spots of lacing are left around the glass.
Smell is of molasses, brown sugar, raisins, syrup, caramel, toffee, and ripe fruit.
Taste is of the mentioned aromas with toffee, and caramel standing out in the mix.
Mouthfeel is medium/full bodied, syrupy, sugary, and a light booziness found in the swallow.
