Poured a bland straw-color with absolutely no head. Maybe a bad keg, but I would expect at least some head out of a draft.
The aroma was more like a cheap, mass-made lager-style beer than a microbrew.
It had a mild sweetness in the taste up front but faded quickly into a bland and somewhat skunky aftertaste.
The mouthfeel was boring to say the least, once again due to the lack of carbonation.
I'd say this was mediocre at best and not something you're going to want to sip and enjoy.

This poured with a huge, bone-white head with very little retention. The color was a deep, golden-amber with a light cloudiness, which was somewhat unexpected in a lager. The nose had the characteristic lager sweetness to it, sort of honey-like but malty at the same time. The mouthfeel was medium with a good lager taste of balanced sweetness and bitterness on the tongue. The finish tended more to bitter than sweet, which I actually enjoyed. I find that I am enjoying lagers more and more.

Poured a dark gold in color. Darker than I expected. Almost leaning towards brown. Thick foam head that vanished completely. Appearance was essentially flat. Picked up hardly any nose whatsoever. Much sweeter than I wanted becasue of the malts. Hops were present but were very sublime. Some white bread flavors too. Medium body. Easily drinkable but not particularly enjoyable.

Thanks to dopplemeup for this one.

Just as the name states, pale golden in color with virtually no head at all. A thin white ring stuck around the top of the body for a minute or two and then disappeared. Slight malty aroma, nothing overpowering. Taste is semi-sweet malt with a light hop finish. A nice balance, but a bit thin in flavor in the end. Not a very complex beer, which makes it an easy drinking lager. This would make a good transaction beer for macro drinkers.

Poured golden with a 2 fingers deep white head. Good lacing & head retention

S: Straw & floral hops

T: Slight grainyness & malt sweetness up front. Floral hops shine through lending to a lemony & straw flavor. Finishes slightlty fruitty & quenching

Medium body, with a spritzy feel & great balance

Drinks too easy, nice helles. Made me want to try others from this brewery, but will probably have to wait until the next time I'm back home

poured an orange-amber color with massive white chunky head. Beautiful lacing as the beer was slowly evacuated from the glass. Head lasted throughout. Smell is light and summer fruity and very nice. Taste starts off strongly malty but a nice hoppy note shows through as the beer warms. Finish shows more of the hop character with a nice balance of the malt. Very drinkable. A nice summer bber.,

Draught: I sampled this at a BBQ joint. It pours a slightly hazy golden yellow color. There was a small white head on it. The aroma was fairly weak, but OK. The taste was along the same lines as the aroma. There wasn’t much there, but it wasn’t bad either. Fairly easy drinking. I guess it goes well with the BBQ.

Hells Angles. Poured a lemony yellow color with a slight haze. A fizzy white head that quickly hides to the edge of the glass, but does last through the whole sampling. Good lacing as well.

The smell is malty with a more Americanized pilsner smell. A Pilsner malt smell with not much DMS aromas. A hoppy kick with a touch of white grape-like smells.

The taste is mostly malt with a crisp taste. A slight more butterscotch taste then the nose would indicate. The hop presence is noticeable but still very light and more would be nice (both bittering and flavoring). A good bitterness with a floral kick and a peppery finish. Not much finish though but a touch of citrus is there.

The body is light. Not much for carbonation. Overall this is a good Americanized Pilsner, but personally I would like more of a hop taste.

Poured from a bottle into a pilsner glass.

Not much head, but there was some residual lacing on the glass. Pale yellow color.

Not strong smelling. Little bit of malt and not much hoppiness.

Taste was alright. Reminded me of a typical macro lager. Not much to say about this beer, neither bad nor good. It is supposed to be a lighter lager, and I think it fits the bill.

I can feel the carbonation, and there are lots of champagne-like bubbles rising to the top as I drink this. It goes down easy, with little aftertaste.

Not a bad beer. I think this would be a good choice for a hot summer day. Very drinkable if you are looking for a session beer.

Gaudy apricot that is full-to-bursting with fine particulates. The small, rich, ivory colored cap was no surprise since there wasn't much of an audible 'pffft' on crown cracking. The beer does, however, look to be more than adequately carbonated. The head is thick and creamy despite its size and deposits a fair amount of lace in small splotches.

The nose is equally balanced between 'blonde' malt and lightly earthy, herbal hops. It may not be a showcase for the hop bill (Northern Brewer, Hallertau, Tettnang), but they give a pretty good accounting of themselves. I'd like a bit more brightness; this is a helles after all. Yeah, I know that helles refers to the color, but that ain't all that bright either.

Although Helles Angel is holding its own on the taste buds, it still can't manage to break out of the 'slightly above average' rut. In terms of the flavor profile, pale malt dominates hops. I can't decide whether that makes it a better example of the style or a worse one. It's white bready (no hint of any toastedness) with a bit of a sourdough tang.

The mouthfeel is more ale-like than lager-like. It's roughly medium for the style and isn't as carbonated as I'd originally feared. Even though a few more bubbles would help, I refuse to get too bent out of shape unless a beer goes obviously too far in either direction.

This Helles Angel is neither the big, bold, half-crazed Hell's Angels of Altamont, nor is it the soft and cuddly Hell's Angels of Toys for Tots. It's something in the safe, and ultimately uninteresting, middle. Not bad, but Edenton is capable of better beer than this.

Hazy light gold with a nice full lightly creamy white head, active carbonation, and some lace rings. Nice grainy malt aroma. Grainy malt flavor dominates with a slightly off flavor to finish... maybe a bit sour-ish. Betting this bottle is a bit old even though it was recently purchased. Light-medium bodied with a dry grainy and lightly sour finish.

Would definitely try again - hopefully will end up w a fresher bottle next time.

Label states: "Pale Golden Lager"

Per EBC website:
German and Pilsner malts.
Northern Brewer, Hallertau, and Tettnang hops.

appearance: A vigorous pour into the pint glass creates a fizzy bone white head. The beer is straw golden in color.

smell: Smells of light grain, a slight sweetness, and some spicy hops. Subtle hints of light fruits like apple and pear.

mouthfeel: Carbonation is somewhat lower than medium and the body thin. Could definately use some more carbonation to carry the subtle flavors, and to just give a better feel on the tongue.

taste: A light fruity sweetness somewhat offset by spicy, clean hops. Not much to it.

drinkability: Easy to drink, and unoffensive

Pours a slightly hazy, straw golden color with a nice frothy white head that retains well. Aroma is very malty with clean, lightly toasted bread notes and some noble hop scents. The taste begins with a clean toasty bread note followed by some floral and grassy hops...simple but when has a munich helles ever been complicated? This beer is to style and very quaffable, with a light mouthfeel, moderate carbonation and excellent drinkability. Really enjoyable and drinkable craft beer without all the pretention of a brewer like DFH, simple, tasty and well crafted.

Pours a deep gold color with a 1 finger head and just ok lace. Aroma of a nice caramel malt with yeasty characteristics. Faint honey and citrus as well. A semi sharp hop flavor hits immediately behind the malt. A nice hop bitterness is present as well. Fairly high carbonation and good drinkability. A decent brew!

12oz bottle from GCBrewingCo as part of BIF 20. Thanks for the opportunity.

Poured into an imperial pint glass, formed a 2 1/2" eggshell head above the slightly cloudy golden brew. Head fades rather quickly down to a more manageable quarter inch, and with ample lacing. Aroma is sweet pale malt with a fruity kick. Taste is similar ot the nose, with the slight fruitiness merging nicely with the malt, but with a somewhat bitter, chalky aftertaste. Mouthfeel and drinkability are both okay as well. Reasonably standard fare here.

Even did this one the service proper burial by dropping her into a gorgeous pilsner glass to savor the memory.

Pours a standard golden hued pour with a top of fluffy ivory spumescent head cap, well retained with taunt head cap hanging in there.

Aromatic leafy grainy scents to a muted degree. Not a nose popper but contains some pop.

First swigs: Honey and grain tingler. Maybe a bit of honey over grain prescence. Aftertaste is somewhat clean but cloys toward the end.

Mouthfeel is subjectively soft yet firm, with a rounded body of medium build.

Drinkability is good with a sweet aftertaste. Some hints of maple syrup round out the finish.

Last swigs: Milky lightly oatmealish brew. Best in a 5 brew mixed pack from EDENTON. This is a can't go wrong decent lager to use as a crossover much like Flying Fish or Cricket Hill. Some slight red apples in the mix round out the malts. Well done but fits into a steam beer style flavor of ale meets lager. No biggie, just a designation.

Beer is good. Happy sorta local beering.

The beer pours a golden color with a thick frothy white head that slowly fades to lacing. The aroma is decent. It has a dry and musty pale and Munich malt scent. The taste is good. It has a grainy pale malt flavor along with a smooth Munich malt sweetness. It goes down easy and finishes dry and slightly bitter. The mouthfeel is good. It is a low/medium bodied beer with good carbonation. This is a fine Helles lager. It's tastey and highly drinkable.

Well, I wanted to try a local brewery and I was in the mood to be brought back to my great time in Munich so Helles it was. The bottle has a buxum blonde and a chachy name so I was caught.

It comes in only a 12 oz bottle and not a liter MaS glass so that was one strike against it...

The beer forms a nice head which rapidly dissapates on top of a yellow brew which has a wheaty-slightly skunky aroma.

The flavor is crispish with a hint of skunk. It is a pretty good example of the Helles variety, but maybe I'll have to go back to der Vatterland to properly enjoy Helles.

Might have it again, but probably not.
