Really tasted much more like an English dry stout than an American stout (and, to be fair, neither the board nor the menu called it an American stout). It was actually eerily close to Guinness--closer even than, say, Murphy's. I've had Guinness, oh, maybe 100 times, and if you had told me this was Guinness I would have believed you.
The nose is mostly nitrogen but some English hops begin to present themselves as the beer warms. Tastes medium bitter, exceptionally creamy body. Quite drinkable.

Poured a deep black hue with a one finger creamy off-white head. There was good retention and lacing.
The smell featured a sweet chocolate, subtle burnt grain and butterscotch.
The taste consisted of lactose, soft cocoa and some dry coffee.
The mouthfeel was smooth and creamy.
Overall a tasty and smooth stout.

At Mondial de la Biere 2007! Not sure if this is a one off or not, just just kept it at rotating.
Pours an opaque black, red edges, thin tan head, some lace spots, nothing special, settles to a thin layer. Smell is sweet, malty, cherries, bit of dry roast, some chocolate, alcohol. Taste is sweet, malty as well, caramel, some chocolate, light roast, very weak, alcohol is pretty strong as well. Mouthfeel is light bodied with low carbonation. Pretty mediocre stout, although certainly drinkable.
