Ruby brown color where light passes through the center. Modest head that settles completely leaving no lace.
Darker chocolate nose with a lighter black patent malt bitterness.
Richer body with a lower carbonation level. Plenty of semisweet chocolate. Like the smell, the small amount of black patent malt provides the finishing bitterness.

Brutopia "Nut Brown Ale"
On tap at the brewpub, 5 Octobre 2014
Notes: Nutty aroma. Nutty flavor. Hint of roastiness. Hints of caramel, both a golden and darker version, dance around a light chocolate center. Smooth. Mildly bitter. Underlying hops are leafy. Finishes drying as the malt fades.

Poured a deep amber hue with a one finger foamy white head. There was good retention and lacing.
The smell featured soft sweet malts and a flowery hop.
The taste consisted of a nutty malt with a touch of honey and a light cocoa element.
The mouthfeel was toward the thinner sie of the style.
Overall a sort of bland but certainly drinkable brown ale.

A - Very dark brown with a bit of a red glow, no carbonation and no head.
S - Very little smell to speak of, mostly just the malt aroma so common to brutopia beers. Smells only slightly of nuts and mostly just of burnt sugar.
T - At first it is very sweet and the malty characters are prominent. Tastes of dark fruits and berries are subtle and followed by just a hint of bitterness and hops, and the odd taste I can only identify as cigarette butts and cranberry juice mixed together. This beer is far too sweet and not nutty enough.
M - Syrupy and thick, the low carbonation makes it feel very odd.
D - There's not a lot preventing me from drinking this all night, except for the mediocrity of the beer itself. This beer is surprisingly popular considering its quality.

A vastly disapointing nut brown. This one couldn't seem to grasp any of the characteristics of what constitutes this great style of beer. Average in its appearence but certainly sub-par in most other respects. Nill aroma. Slightly flat mouthfeel, could use much more texture. Flavours were completely absent. It offers absolutely nothing in the means of taste. I don't mean to bash this beer, I rather enjoyed Brutopia's other offerings. However, I couldn't have guessed however that this was a nut brown if I wasn't told. It was simply lacking too much character

I drank this beer during a drink marathon at the Brutopia. I think this was my fifth beer of the evening. Even then my taste was still good. I was only drinking 'vases'? small glasses.
This beer is brown with a small head and sufficient carbonation.
Smell was like most of the Brutopia beers, this must be the typical house yeast. Add to that a pretty simple malt recipe and it will be a pretty tasteless beer.
Taste for me is all a bit too bland, and like the Extra Blonde tastes were just below my thresholds. Some malt, some hop, some taste. Im sorry, but this is not very special.
