A dark ale with malt character and a hint of smoke. Well balanced, not too bitter and not quite as “mild” as you'd think at 3.8% ABV!

Very mild, at Bar Volo English milds fest. Thinnish mouthfeel, watery is closer to it. So-so drinkability. Disapointing based on the early reviews. Virtually no taste, nothing taste wise replacing the lack of hops of 20 IBU. Maybe if tweaked. Avoidable.

Hazy amber orange, bubbly soapy head, white head with some lace left behind. Smell is sweet malt, smokey and roasted, caramel, some toffee and light floral hop notes. Taste is full of chocolate and smoke, lots of roasted malt as well as smoked malt, toffee and caramel with some bready points. light med carb, full body, medium weight. This is incerdibly drinkable and flavourfull could drink this all night long considering its ABV.

On cask at the C'est What Fall Festival.

Poured brown, with some deep orange/amber highlights. Nice offwhite head, with some great thick retention - a bit of lace on the glass. Nose has some dark bread notes (hint of rye?), light smoke malts and smoked meat notes. Caramel and some toasty bread. Flavour profile is a good reflection of the nose, more smoked meat and dark breads, general smoke and smoked malt as well. Some caramel sweetness, light woody notes and some dark fruits come in quickly at the end of the sip. Good clean mouthfeel, heavier medium body with a lightly sweet finish. The Granite needs to have this on year-round, exceptional and so much flavour for the ABV. The best mild I've had in a while, certainly memorable. Another hit. 45/4/45/4/45

UPDATE: On at the brewpub, more dark caramel notes and only a smidgen of the smoke and related smoke qualities I recall at the original sampling. Light hopping, but less body than I remember it having as well. Easy to down, but not as good as I has originally thought it to be. Still a flavorful dark mild at that. 45/4/4/35/35
