This beer uses a couple of ancient grains like emmer, spelt and black wheat that where organically grown and harvested on Stiegls own farm. Furthermore organic hops are used as well.
The beer is presented in the Stiegl Hausbier design in a 0.75l bottle.
L: Murky orange body and fine white foam that reduces to a rim and leaves lacing
A: Earthy and citric with a malty character that reminds me of full grain bread and biscuit
T: Wheat sour with a gentle but lingering bitterness, furthermore spicy
F: light effervescent body that lends a creamy feel that is further intensified by milk-like coating of palate that lingers after swallowing
O: This is beer is quite interesting as it uses grains not typical to beer nowadays and Stiegl in this way helps to preserve this valuable heritage. However, I am not particularly fond of the beer. It is a refreshing beer due to the sourness with an interesting mouthfeel that reminds me partly of a Hefeweizen. Not their best effort but nevertheless worth a try.
