I bought this at the flagship Merkur store in the first district in Vienna. This is the only place I know of in Vienna where you can get the Stiegl Hausbier series. Their Winter beer is this chocolate Stout.
Beautiful creamy beige lasting head of two fingers deep brown clear body.
Definitely chocolate of the dark expensive kind, but also roasted malts, yeast aromas
roasted malts, good amount of herbal hops, wheat sourness - hmm let's check the label for this, indeed it says organic roasted wheat, chocolate is detectable but not dominant
feel is rather thin and watery like in a carbonated Guinness, smooth carbonation though
Good stout with just a bit more chocolate flavor and aroma than in a upper class stout. The sourness from the wheat I needed to get used to and the hop presence was also a surprise. I like it quite a lot, though I wouldn't pair with a chocolate dessert as recommended on the bottle because of the bitter and sour.
