11/08/04- Sampled at the Steelhead Brewery in Burlingame, CA
Appearance- Fairly dark black. A tiny bit opaque. A small, but decent head and nice lacing.
Smell- Heavy dark malt and coffee.
Taste- Slightly bitter, heavy burnt coffee and malt taste. A tiny bit smoky. A bit of dark chocolate in the background.
Mouthfeel- Nice carbonation. A little bitter going down.
Drinkability- Not a huge porter fan, but this one is OK in my book.
additions- This is called "Half Moon Porter" in Burlingame, CA. Also, they have this on cask and it is even smoother, but a bit watery.

Deep brackish, swampwater brown. This was my first Steelhead beer to disappoint. It had no head or lace and a very sedentary body. Perhaps it was going stale. The flavor was nice and roasty at first, but it lacked sustain and suffered from a strained finish and an astringent mouthfeel. It also put off a faint phenolic fragrance that was less than appetizing. I was left with no desire to try this one again.
