I had this beer on-tap in a pint glass at the brewery.
Appearance: medium golden hue with a light haze and a strong effervescence. Head is a finger of frothy white foam.
Smell: bright hops with a good mix of floral and fruity character. I like it.
Taste: malty with a good floral hop character. Bitterness is moderate and just right for the flavor.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: a very solid pale ale of the floral variety. I quite like it.

Cloudy golden colour with a small white head. Fair head retention. Some lacing.
Light citrus hop aroma but ultimately it is lacking in pungency.
Low malt flavour with a bright citrus hop flavour. Moderate bitterness. Actually quite good.
Medium light body with moderate carbonation. Fine.
A decent West Coast style IPA. Certainly not great but it is good.

On-tap at the Eugene Steelhead.
A: Poured a dark bronze. One-finger head, little lacing and very clear.
S: Citrus and hops. A pretty good smelling beer, although it isn't quite as striking as most IPAs.
T: Not as bitter as the smell suggested and surprisingly sweet. Fairly malty with a strong citrus presence. The bitterness blends in nicely but remains in the background.
M: Smooth and very drinkable.
O: A pretty unique beer in the Northwest's crowded IPA market. If you come across it on-tap it's certainly worth a try.

Got this from cask at the brewery. Has a translucent pale amber body with a creamy 1 finger head. I am quite a sucker for cask beers and the smoothness provided by the fluffy head and warmer temp. This IPA delivers pretty well with a good dose of citrus-y cone-y hops and pretty good malt backbone to hold it up. However, there are better IPA's in the style. Overall a nice beer and if you can get it in cask, go for it. Otherwise, maybe find another brew.

Had this at Steelhead in Burlingame. Pours a slightly murky golden amber with a thin cap of sudsy head and very nice thick tapered lacing. Nose here is some mild grapefruit but still maintaining prominent bright citrus notes. Flavors are noticeably sweet with an almost immediate huge bitterness that predominates. Mouthfeel is pretty standard for an IPA, if not a bit thin. Carbonation is right on target here. Pretty bitter IPA without the complementary hop flavor profiles. Definitely drinkable, but a bit thin and could use some greater balance in the hop profiles.

On tap at Venti's in Salem OR. Nice enough looking beer, typical orange/brown with a small off white head. Good oiney, lemony aromas, very fresh. Great refreshing taste of floral hops mixed with lemon zest, seems to have a nice malt backbone also. Nice enough on the palate, went down well anyway. Nice IPA.

Ontap at Steelhead in Eugene.
Deep golden color and a while head that dissapeared pretty quickly.
A ton of big PacNW hops in the nose, but not over the top like at Rogue/Eugene City around the corner. Malt steps up in the taste to a surprising degree. It's just a big flavored IPA all around.
Drinkability is there, for sure, making this one my favorite of their standard yearround offerings.

I had this on tap at the Steelhead Brew Co, Eugene, OR. The color is light golden-red, with some small, filmy bubbly head. It's very clear. The smell is of sweet floral hops - great smell! Lots of lacing on the glass. It has a good sweet and citrusy hops and malt flavor up front and then lots of hops in the aftertaste. Very nice.

Served in a standard pint, the beer is a clear bronze with a beige head. Not a lot of lacing.
Nice nose of pine resin, some orange and malts.
As expected, this is a bracing and bitter beer and at first it appears to be a good example of the bolder West Coast style. However, as I worked through the beer, I noticed it is a bit unbalanced as it could use a more malt. However, the beer was still enjoyable to drink. I liked the caramel undertones, just wished they were stronger.
The mouth is smooth and oily. This is an easy enough drinker that just falls short of being a topnotch session beer.

11/08/04- Sampled at the Steelhead Brewery in Burlingame, CA
Appearance- Great huge head that was still there after 45 minutes. Dark gold coloring with exceptional lacing.
Smell- Awesome hop scent. Flowers, citrus and grassy.
Taste- Heavy on the malt. I expected the hops to show a bit more after the strong scent. They do come through a bit more in the end though.
Mouthfeel- Dry and a bit bitter hop finish. Nice low carbonation. Fairly smooth brew.
Drinkability- I could easily toss a few of these back on any given day. Very nice sample.
Addition....also had this on cask where the flavors come out a bit more, but also is a bit watery.
