Look: Dark red leaning amber with a frothy light tan head that slowly grows then settles to a lid, leaving good lacing behind
Aroma: Rich bready malt, some pine, orange, lime, ruby-red grapefruit, light dark-colored berry notes, and toffee
Taste: A huge rush of pine sap and needles along with toffee kick it off as bready malt trickles in close behind. Citrus fruits appear as the pine settles down along with some light berry notes and more bread and closes with coniferous notes and a nice hop bite
Mouthfeel: Full, medium-high carbonation, and a medium strength dryness on the finish
Overall: I dig it. I wasn’t expecting this beer to be as dark as it was, even for a ‘Winter IPA’ but looks are indeed deceiving as this is a full-blown IPA through and through but along with a hefty malt bill. Tastes old-school-ish with the dominant pine and citrus, as well as the strong bite and dryness on the finish. Tasty stuff here
