Rich mahogany in color, this northwest brown ale has a caramel-like nose and aromas reminiscent of pit fruit. Medium in body, this ale is balanced seamlessly between the malt dominant origins of brown ale styles and the hop-forward concentration of Northwest beers.

St Bernard’s Brown - described on the menu as a North West Brown brewed with Scottish crystal malt, British chocolate malt and Amarillo and Mt Hood hops. That's a unique mix, let's see what they have.

Served in a standard pint, the beer is dark brown with ruby highlights. There is a skim of a tan head.

Nice aroma of bakers chocolate and roasted malts.

The taste tracks the smell, roasted grains, a hint of chocolate, a touch of coffee and some minor pine notes.

The mouth is sturdy and yeoman like.

A tasty beer, would have loved to see a little more hops.
