A bottle poured into a 8 ounce beer glass.
Mahogany in color, high in clarity. The head dissipates quickly and leaves no lacing.
Aroma and flavor are of sweet brown bread, with hints of molasses, subtle earthy leafy flavors and dried fruit. Raisins, dried apricots and prunes come to mind. Bitterness is mild with a medium bodied mouthfeel. The 7.5 AVV alcohol warming sensation adds to the experience.

Picked up a "new" 330 ml single from the Blue Door Bottleshop warm shelves 11-13-25 for $4.50. Bottle code =L057192548 which translates to February 26 (day 057), 2025; consumed 1-20-26. Cold stored since purchase.
Beer poured burgundy-brown with a very nice off-white head. Cracked open at approximately 55-60 degrees.
Nose has notes of dark bread and pungent dark fruits.
Taste is a caramel and honey bread base in which the yeast imparts raisin and dark grape sweetness. Getting some heavy toastiness and sufficient hopping to tame the sweetness to style appropriateness.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied with each sip being soft and smooth.
Overall, the monks have done good work to provide a tasty liquid fast meal!

A very much flavorful doppelbock...
Full disclosure - I am a bock/doppelbock kinda guy, and this one really hits the spot. Great coloration, sweet maltiness in the nose, rich flavor on the tongue - this is really one of the better doppelbocks I have had...

When I was at preschool one day, I sat at the head of the table when the entire class was putting frosting on cookies shaped like a person we were given. Other kids went wild. Blue, red, green… They did it all. Back to Raul though. I was so damn shy that I was afraid to ask someone else to pass me a different color of frosting. Because of that, I only used the orange one that was placed right in front of me. My cookie man was bland because of my timidness. And that’s this beer. It’s still a cookie with frosting, but it’s just a bit bland.

Pours a deep amber/copper with barely any head. Smells of raisin, molasses, and pumpernickel bread. Taste, by my estimate, would be a 60/40 bitter/sweet profile, reminiscent of what I would speculate as a liquified loaf of pumpernickel (if you were savage enough to do such an experiment). Appropriately carbed, good mouthfeel, and the finish leaves a trace of bitterness.
