Pint glass on-tap at The Barley Mill brewpub.
Opaque black with a creamy foamy tight thin cap. I was really impressed as this looks like a very good stout. However, the head retention could have been better as half way through the pint the head was completely gone.
Aroma is very weak with a little roaste malt and a hint of burnt sugar.
Taste is really plain. A strong taste of roasted malt (almost burnt) at the start, but then quickly fades into basically nothing with no aftertaste.
Full bodied with a faint carbonation.
This is by far the best looking of their beers, but it does fall short. While there isn't anything to turn you off, it's just very plain and only gives a hint at what a stout could really offer.
