2L plastic bottle with a screw-top cap. Got this as part of a Christmas gift from my brother-in-law. Plain bottle with a plain label that says Manchester then Irish Cream and the brewpub address. Poured in a pint glass.
Dark red-amber and a little hazy. Agressive pour yields a little head, but it's nothing more than some big bubbles clumped together around the edges. Sporadic lacing.
Aroma is malty sweet with a little herbal/earthy background.
This has an interesting flavour profile. Starts off a little malty and a little sweet, but overall fairly muddled. A very light carbonation spreads across the tongue and leaves a tea and honey like quality. Finish is a little cloying with a hint of malt in the background. Aftertaste is a very mild bitter malt.
Mouthfeel is surprisingly thin and with the light carbonation, it goes down like water. Leaves your mouth feeling a little pasty in the aftertaste.
I don't really know what to make of this. It's not bad, but really doesn't turn my crank. Immediately after the swallow it's so muddled that I imagine that it doesn't know what it's supposed to be doing. Instead of working together, everything just kind of gets in the way of one another. All-in-all it's ok, but I won't go out of my way to get another one.
