Tasted at the Five Islands brewpub.
Black as night, with some dark chocolate tones at the edge of the glass. Tan, thin head.
Aromas of coffee cream chocolates, with slight smoked ham hint.
Flavours rich, leathery, velvety, iced coffee. A subtle savoury note that would align this nicely with a plate of oysters.
Smooth but not heavy. Right up there with other good examples of style.

A - Black, dark tan head with good retention, little to no lacing.
S - Burn/ Roasted malts. Some hop bitterness. Coffee and some toffee like malt aroma.
T - Sweet toffee flavours up front move to coffee-like flavours which evolve to a burnt roasted malt flavour profile eventualy revealing the bitter side of the roaast malt with a hop flavour to balance.
M - Smooth, Dry and a little sweet but very easy to drink.
D - Easy to drink, very good porter with good balance. Great beer, one of their best.
