Copenhagen 2/2 2021. 33 cl bottle from Belgisk Bryg, Emdrup Mosevej, Kbh. NV. Cartoonish drawing of a drunkard an a snowman drinking Winter bie on the label.
Pours murky dark brown with a red hue. Clumps of yeast whiting about. Mid-sized off-white head. Settles as thin patch of foam unable to cover the surface of the beer. Clinging to the sides of the glass. Substantial lacing.
Aroma is fairly intense with a strong sweet almost sugary odor mingling with lighter tart sourish notes. Dark fermented fruit. Raisins, plum and dates. Brown sugar. Christmas spices. Honey, cloves, ginger.
Fairly strong carbonation. Medium thick, viscous, oily, lightly tingling texture.
Flavor is medium intense with a strong sweetness followed by a medium strong bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter with a notable sweet undertone. Lingers for a while. Finish is semi-dry and spicy sweet.
Lives up to it's name by being sweet, strong and laden with Christmas spices.

L- Very deep ruby-chestnut with a 15mm mid-tan foam cap.
S- Very richly malty.
T- Maaan it is huuugely malty, then after a few seconds a notably bright hops note rises and brings some balance. Within that hops note the brightness could be camouflaging some of the ABV% which doesn't otherwise seem to be shouting loud. Deep stewed dark fruits + malt. Would like to be finding a bit more detail beyond the malts.
F- Hefty and notably very rich. I find with beers like this it's not uncommon that as they warm a touch they become something morphing from rich to a little too sweet for me. This already has a sweet note, which the hops partially moderate, but I better not linger too long. Good CO2 in the mouth.
O- An example of a beer for deep-winter? I'd also suggest if you aren't that into beer that risks ending up rather sweet it might be a good candidate for sharing? Nice to try but perhaps a bit too far over on the rich>sweet spectrum for me.

Pours a dark-brown color with a medium top of beige head where half of it dissolves quickly while the other half stays there for a good while.
Aroma is of dark plums, matured apples, prunes, raisins, caramel, cheeries, chocolate and spices.
The taste is sweet with notes of dark and dried fruits, while the background has dark malts and caramel in the flavour. It then goes to slightly bitter and spicy in the finish with the malty background. Flavour is a little watery and unballanced. Mouthfeel is soft and smooth with a medium body and a medium carbonation.
A fairly good and decent dark ale, but nothing more than that.
