Traditional Lambic beer, made from real cherries and Lambic matured in wooden barrels. They are slowly absorbed into the Lambic, which develops a fruity character and a ruby red colour. Oud Beersel Oude Kriek contains around 400 grams of cherries per litre, which is the most of its kind.

No added sugar and no artificial flavourings or preservatives.

Aroma: surprising fragrance of sour cherries and almonds.

Flavour: the real cherries unveil an overwhelming fruitiness and a touch of almond from the cherry pits completes the joy.

From a caged and corked 475ml bottle dated BB 16/11/2043 (the longest expiry that I have ever seen). Poured into a tulip. A big three finger fine dirty pink head on a clear, very dark ruby.Excellent head retention, probably helped by the nucleated glass, sticks around to the end. Sheets of clingy fine lacing.

Sour fruit and some oak in the nose. Dark cherry. Tastes slightly sweet up front, but dries towards the end. A clean cherry dominates the middle. A long moderately sour finish.

A very smooth and soft texture for a Lambic. Medium body and good carbonation. Overall a fine Kriek. Very smooth and well balanced. The sweet/sour balance is bang on. An outstanding example and well worth a try.

Very enjoyable. Poured a nice red color. Tart with a hint of sweetness. You can tell it's real tart cherries being used.
Would get again for sure. One of my favorite beers I've had.

Had Oude Kriek Vieille Beersel poured from corked-and-caged 12.7-oz. bottle, label stamped Best Before: "19.03.2035," into Teku tulip 3.0.

Pours apparently opaque deep purple, but deep ruby-red with clarity when backlit, and with a 2-finger pink head, which has excellent retention, and pulls a little lace down the glass. Aromas of cherry skins, mild malt and huge sweet cherry off pour, with the cherry continuing, joined by classic, very tart lambic aroma, with some Brett sour and fresh floral aromas also showing as warms. On tasting, begins very tart, with a little cherry fruit following and growing through a little cherry skin into a rather crisp, very drying, but just a bit malty, slightly herbally-bitter finish.

Beautiful beer with a surprisingly long-lasting head, delivering the huge tartness and massive cherry flavor expected of a leading Belgian Kriek.

Attractive dark red to purple color with a ruby head. Good barnyard funk, some brett wild ale characters here, with almost equal parts tart hay to the cherries. Oak woody character rounds it out and gives it a slight bite at the end. Pretty good Kriek. Definitely more wild ale focused than some sort of fruit forward beer. Strong carbonation that is exceedingly bubbly. Very traditional in style with a satisfying level of complexity. As it warms the traditional wild ale characteristics let in the cherries more and more to make for a good sipper.

poured from a vintage 2014 corked and caged 750mL bottle into a SP lambic glass. pours a deep, dark red to light brown with three fingers of pinkish reddish foam. funk, musty oak and light cherry on the nose. cherry, oak, cherry candy and sour cherry in the taste. it’s a sweet and sour combo but it’s very light and balanced on both. full mouthfeel. perfectly carbed. this was delicious.

Aroma gives off juicy red fruit, sour cherry, a bit of malt. The body starts off with a wave of sour raspberry, followed by cherry malt sweetness. Almost like a warhead candy in flavor. It carries a strong, sour bite throughout, and leaves behind sweet cherry mash.

750ml Bottle (2016) - Pours a deep red with 2 finger pink foam head which dissipates after a few minutes. Relatively low carbonation. Aroma is cherry with notes of wood and perhaps sour citrus. Taste initially strikes the perfect balance of tart and sweet cherry, with a hint of spice but the sourness becomes more prominent. Medium bodied with a dry finish. Absolutely teriffic beer.

750ml bottle into a tulip. 2018 vintage.

Looking very nice. Slow streams of carbonation through a deep plum body. Small pinkish tinged head replenished, though little lacing.

Tart cherry aroma with the faintest of funk notes.

On tasting, cherries are the strongest flavor, but they don't overwhelm. Nice balance, tart and sour.

Mouth medium, finish tart sour cherry.

Overall, enjoyable drinking experience. Perfectly balanced for my fickle palate.
