Drank from my De Struise Tulip
A - Pours a hazey dark brown colour with a tanned head that reduces to a decent lacing film.
S - Heaps of raosty malts tha are balanced by sweetness.
T - Up fron there is burnt flavours of malts moves into a nice vanilla flavour before finishing with a heavy burnt toffee flavour.
M - Very smooth with medium to full stick body and low carbonation.
D - I like this brew. Its a very good example of a strong ale with plenty of character.

Pours dark copper with a small head.
Nose makes me think of a dark IPA: first up lots of grapefruit, grass and spicy hops followed by loads of nutty and toasty chocolate malt with a hint of alcohol.
Flavours mirror the aromas but with added chocolate and a very bold hoppy bitter finish. Pretty full-on.
Creamy carbonation but a little too high.

A- Thin White head, it retains, but it is very thin, and leaves little lace for the style. the body is a hazy rather opaque orange/light brown, a little light in color for the style in my opinion.
N- Smells of banana peel, Corriander, caramel, and some spices, brown sugar maybe, and for some reason I want to say I smell Kiwi (the fruit, and I'm not saying so to be cute as it is a kiwi made beer).
T- the taste is NOTHING like the nose would lead you to believe. heavy Caramel, and toffee, mild hop taste, and no sense of the fruit that was on the nose. maybe I'm starting to lose my sense of smell?
M- Starts nice and crisp, rather heavy on the carbonation as most bottled beers in this country seem to be. then toward the middle of it gets smooth, and malty, then again has a slight bite at the finish.
D- at 7% this is an easy drinker, i could see it being easy to accidently get trashed off a few of these.
S- Not all that true to style, but none the less a nice drinker, or a good session beer if you show the ABV it's due respect. well worth a look if your down in New Zealand, or can find it elsewhere.

The beer pours a nutty, brown caramel colour with decent carbonation but only leaves a half finger head that dissapates as fast as you see it,it smells of caramel, toffee and alcohol aswell,it has an average mouthfeel but tastes not bad its mostly a sweet toffee, malty taste that finishes sweet with no alcohol taste quite well hidden, not a bad beer but at 7.0% prob not a session beer.

A great brown, in flavour and mahogony colour. Hoppy and lots of licorish and coffee and significant chocolate malt flavour. Very smooth. Recommended if you can get it. What a great brewery. Was terrific after fish. Thanks DouglasD for bringing back.
