A local favorite, our stout is smooth, dark, and has converted many who used to stay clear of dark beers. 25 IBU

On tap at Hangar on the Wharf: appearance was a pure jet black color with a thin less than a finger’s worth of head (bar pour); light lacing is left in the wake; roasty coffee smell; its got the same taste; dry roasty aftertaste and finish (kinda hits ya like an Irish Dry Stout); not too heavy on the palate but still sits well enough like any stout should; overall good Irish Dry Stout that I would have again.

I've actually had this several times now.
So here's my take on this.
Always in a pint glass, pure dark black as night color with a bar pour's kind of slim white head that dissipated within seconds.
The smell was basically dark roasted coffee beans.
The taste was pretty much the same with a long super dry aftertaste and finish.
The mouthfeel was dry and roasty with a pummeling sort of bitterness over my tongue.
Overall, good as an Irish Dry Stout but I see it's labeled as an American Stout, no worries, I'd have it again.

A solid stout. Had on tap.
Deep reddish black, with a small off-white head. No visible carbonation.

Nose is heavily toasted malts. Burnt / fire smells, quite nice. Taste is roasty malts, more malks, and a slight sweet milky quality. Very good so far.

Mouthfeel falls a little flat, as I'd noticed with some other Haines brews. Good drinkability though, and overall a nice entry.

From multiple growlers filled at the brewery while in Haines, 11/2007. Rich, Deep, complex, but still pretty clean. A slight fruitiness from the yeast, with a touch of diacetyl. The finish is on the dry side. Nice woody/mapley flavours of a homebrewed style stout that you never taste in a commercial stout. Very low hop flavor and bitterness, allows the nice roasted grain flavor to shine through. Haines brewing Co. apparently sells more of this than any of their other beers, and it shows. 6% alcohol, and I would have guessed 4.5. Very well crafted beer. Thanks Paul!
