On-tap 2/7/2016 at Doherty’s East Ave Irish Pub in Pawtucket, RI, served in a tapered pint glass.
A: The beer is a dark brown color, with a large dense foamy beige head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.
S: The aroma contains maple, nuts, caramelized malts and a touch of hops.
T: The taste starts out with mildly sweet flavors of maple, caramel and brown sugar. Then a strong breadiness comes in from a hearty malt character along with a good smokiness in the background. The hops presence is mild but complementary and brings a good balance. The after-taste is slightly bready and slightly sweet.
M: Crisp and smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is sticky.
O: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, good kick, good representation of style, this is a solid beer to drink for a while if you’re in the mood for the style.
