Acorn/chestnut body with great off-white head, creamy with good lacing. Smells of toffee, nutmeg, and egg nog. Flavor is semi-strong spicing of cinnamon and nutmeg but reminiscent of the OSAs. White chocolate works its way into the mix somehow. Body is medium-thin and very very smooth.
This is actually extremely nice. I like it a lot for what is certainly not one of my favorite styles (spiced winter warmer). Achieves the difficult goal of being very easy drinking and flavorful too. Another winner from Gloucester.

Fisherman's Winter Lager is a new winter seasonal beer from Cape Ann Brewing Co. It pours a clear amber color with a small frothy white head on top. The foam dissolves quickly to a thick ring with medium sized bubbles around the surface leaving a few spots of lace behind on the side of the glass.
The spicy aroma is mainly cinnamon and nutmeg with some caramel malt mixed in. Each sip of this smooth medium bodied beer begins spicy. Again, the cinnamon and nutmeg are most noticeable. Some sweet malt balances out the spice and it finishes with a mild floral flavor.
I found this winter brew well balanced and not overpowered by the spices like other seasonal beers. I'm not sure of the availability of this beer since I happened to find a store that bought a case a few weeks after Christmas. It may not be out again until next year.
