St. Michaelsberg in my opinion is the most attractive part of the Maisel Braeu collection. I had this in a seidel at the Orlando Restaurant across from the University of Bamberg. It has a light brown color and some traces of chocolate to the smell, which are recognizable when drinking. Aside from that chocolate-like taste and a little caramel there is very little else to make it an otherwise exceptional German Dunkel.

Foamy chestnut colored head over a deep brown beer with a mahogany hue. Dark malts in the aroma along with a dash of red wine and cocoa. Fizzyness in the mouthfeel that fades quickly leaving a watery finishing beer that doesn't hold much flavor. Dry flavor is a bit woody with bit of cocoa and wine again. After the finish I got a nutty tasting burp. Not bad. A simple and clean beer that is about right for the style.

Brown-red color, with copper reflexes. Beige head, not thick, but compact. Average duration.
The smell is light, difficult to catch. Just some malt, with burned notes (burnt caramel). The creme-brulée crust (?).
The taste is more present. Essentially caramel, but not too inviting. It is not too sweet, as if there is too much caramel, but anyway, it gives a feeling of heavyness.
Light body, malty aftertaste, but quickly disappearing. Some fizzy on th tongue.
Quite anoymous.
