At the Barley Creek Summerfestival today the Hefe Wiezen was the good surprise of the day. This beer, the Pocono Bitter was a bit of a let down today. The Bar tender told me it was an ESB but it certainly wasn't that. It is a very unique.
Appearance: Served on-tap at the brewery it came a light amber color.
Smell: Very very light grassy sour bitter aroma with a hint of a malt presence.
Taste: A bit strange. Not awful significant grassy character up front a touch of malt and then a strong sour aftertaste. I was not a big fan of this aftertaste but it was not appalling either; just different.
Mouthfeel: Thin and watery. Left the beer feeling a bit limp.
Drinkability: This not the most impressive beer that Barley Creek makes so I would try the Rescue IPA instead. IMHO.
Hope this is helpful.
Cheers!

I had this on tap at the brewery.
Arrives a very clear light amber/orange with a one finger head of off-white foam. The head drops to islands and a ring, with minimal lacing.
Aroma is of citrusy/grassy hops and a caramel-y malt backbone. Smells are light, not a whole lot there.
The flavor is somewhat odd, and a little thin. It has a nice level of bittering, but the taste is tinny or metallic. There is an odd citrusy hop flavor, also, which doesn't seem quite right. The malt is light toffee, kind of pushed to the rear. The aftertaste is citrusy and short and thin.
The mouthfeel is awfully thin, IMO, for the style. Needs a little more malt character. Carbonation is medium, with a slightly astringent finish.
This just doesn't work for me. The odd taste and thin profile add up to no good.
