According to the label, 20lbs of crushed red raspberries were added to the fermentation of the 2006 Valentale - catchy name. It looked and smelled great. I couldn't remember what it reminded me of and know I know what it is - Celis raspberry. There is a more than subtle berry taste in a solid belgian strong ale. The candi sugar produces nice honey flavors mixing with the berries for a satisfying brew. A bit pricey at $13 a 750 ml bottle but a damn good fruit beer.
