1/2 liter pour in the beer garden. First beer of the trip! Lovely head. Taste is almost a hefe but a bit thinner in a good way.

Hofbräu Kaltenhausen "Sternbrau"
,3l / 3,60€ @ Sternbrau, Salzburg, AT on 23.09.2017
Notes: Hazy amber-orange body with golden highlights beneath a full head of fluffy off-white foam. Average head retention and lacing. The aroma displays lightly caramelish malt with some spicy hops and the flavor basically follows that. It's lightly caramelish with some yeasty apple-like fruitiness and spicy and mildly grassy and herbal hops backing it. A firm bitterness balances it and it finishes with floral, fruity, and mildly spicy hops lingering shortly. In the mouth it's medium bodied and smooth with a moderate carbonation.

.5l in Kaltenhausen mug; on tap at Sternbrau in Salzburg, which is now owned by Kaltenhausen.
A cloudy yellow-gold beer with a frothy and durable white head that leaves plenty of sticky lacing.
The nose is rather yeasty, malty (light), and hoppy in more or less equal parts.
The yeast is much less evident in tasting, although there is a mild citrus note, and the malt/hop balance turns hoppy by the mildly bitter finish.
M: medium carbonation and body.
